Christina Grenz Purdy Obituary

Ella Van Corbach, 87, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, August 16, 2012 at her home.

MISSOULA - Christina Grenz Purdy, 85, passed away Satuday, July 23, 2011, at the Springs in Missoula. Born April 29, 1926, in Hazelton, N.D., to Reinhold and Barbara Grenz, she was raised and educated in Hazelton and graduated from college in Bismarck, N.D. She then followed her family to Missoula.

On Nov. 27, 1947, Christina married Wilbur "Willie" Purdy in Missoula. She worked at First National Bank before spending the rest of her working career at the U.S. Forest Service, until she retired in 1988.

She had been a charter and active member of Atonement Lutheran Church. Christina enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the family cabin on Echo Lake, as well as fishing, boating, and water skiing. She had a gift and great interest in music and often shared her talents by playing the piano for family and friends. At church functions, in her later years, a passion for dancing took her and her companion through the state attending dance festivals.

Survivors include her daughter, Barb (Bob) Gannon of Polson and sons, Bruce (Sue) Purdy of Keizer, Ore., and Brian (Sonny) Purdy of Mahtomedi, Minn.; a sister, Esther Cole of Vancouver, Wash., and six grandchildren, Tysen and Reid Gannon, and Ehren, Jordan, Dylan and Morgan Purdy.

Christina was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur; companion Ken Resner; brothers. Henry, Dick, Reinhold and sisters Ida, Ruth and Martha.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Atonement Lutheran Church followed by a luncheon reception. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens following the reception.
