Roger Maier,


56, Jamestown, died April 24, 2006 in a Jamestown care center. Services will be held at 11:30 AM Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Scott Fredrickson officiating. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, with military rites by VFW Post 1326.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Roger Maier was born on October 1, 1949, at Jamestown, ND, the son of Gottlieb and Edna (Schnaidt) Maier. He was raised and educated at Streeter, ND, graduating from Streeter High School in 1968. He was patriotic to his country and believed in the American way. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps during the Viet Nam war and was honorably discharged July 1, 1976.
Roger completed a training course in small arms repair in 1987 and was employed with Iron Workers Local 793 in Mandan, ND.

Roger was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bismarck. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Roger is survived by his daughter, Nicole Maier of Bismarck, ND; his mother, Edna Maier of Streeter, ND; his brother and sister-in-law, Al and Margie Maier of Bismarck; and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice (Clyde) Remboldt of Jamestown, Myron Hehn of Gackle, ND, Carolynn (James) Burkle of Egan, MN, Beverly (Arnie) Schumaker of Streeter, ND, and Paulette (Steve) Kirschenmann of Streeter, ND.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gottlieb in 1996; his sister, Joan Miller in 1968; his sister, Caren Hehn in 2003; and his twin brother and sister, James and Janice Maier in 1944.
