Obituary

          Norma Jane Grenz, 75, Rochester died at Season Hospice in Rochester on March 27, 2004. 
          Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 31 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tyler with the Rev. Larry Wiederich officiating. 
Interment was in St. John's Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Verdi Township, Lincoln County, MN. 
          Honorary Pallbearers were grandchildren Shannon Lawrence, Megan Kroeger, Paula Hall, Austin Kroeger and Rebecca Grenz. 
Pallbearers were grandsons Paul Sorensen, Scot Hall, Chad Sorensen, Ethan Kroeger, Eric Hall and Brian Lawrence. 
          Norma J. Grenz was born to Carl and Leona (Kramer) Baak on Sept. 7, 1928 in Verdi. As a young child she moved with her family to Elkton, SD where she was raised and received her education. After she graduated from the Elkton High School in 1946, she attended college at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. On Nov. 16, 1947, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Grenz in Elkton. Following their marriage, they moved to Tyler and then to Ivanhoe. In 1950, they moved to Des Moines, IA and returned to Tyler in 1955. Norma was employed at the REA as a bookkeeper. In 1969, Norma and LeRoy opened the Grenz Oil Company which they owned and operated until 1991. At that time, she retired. Her husband preceded her in death on July 18, 1995. After his death, she continued to reside in Tyler until moving to Rochester in 2003. 
          Norma was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tyler where she was active in the Ladies Aids. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elkton in 1942. She was a member of the extension club for many years. 
          She is survived by her four children, Gail (Wayne) Sorensen of Wanamingo, Karen Hall (special friend Bruce Bondhus) of Storden, Cathy (Terry) Kroeger, Hartford, SD and Larry (Teri) Grenz of Lake Crystal; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Eleanor Baak of Sioux Falls, SD; two brothers-in-law, Loyd (Marilyn) Grenz of Lake Benton and Clyde (Gloria) Grenz of Pocatella, Idaho. 
           She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy and one grandchild.
