Paul Grenz,
prominent St. Helena businessman and owner of Paul’s Repair
Service, died today at his home in this city. A native of
Kansas, Grenz had resided for the past 11 years in St.
Helena, where he was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist
Church.

He was 49.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Pauline Grenz; sons, Pvt.
Kenneth Grenz, Camp Pickett, Va., Robert Grenz, St. Helena;
daughters, Edna June and Geraldine Grenz, both of St.
Helena; mother, Mrs. Louise Heinrich, OKeene, OK; sisters,
Mrs. Fred Bernhardt, King Fisher, OK, Mrs. Max Rainey;
Gardenia, CA; brother, Ezra Grenz, Hanford, CA, and
half-brothers, Willie Heinrich, Enid, OK, and Harry and
Irvin Heinrich, Hawthorne, CA.

Edna Pauline Gaede Grenz
Edna Pauline Gaede Grenz passed away March 3, 2006
at the age of 98. Pauline was born July 14, 1907 in Oklahoma
Territory, United States of America.
Pauline married Paul Grenz in 1931 at the age of 24 in Enid,
Okla. They lived between Arkansas and Oklahoma during the
Depression era, moving with job availability. Paul and
Pauline moved to St. Helena in 1942.
Paul worked as a ship welder at Mare Island Naval Base, than
started his own business on Silverado Trail, Paul's Auto
Repair Service, where he worked until his death in 1953. In
1998, Pauline moved to Arkansas with her son, Kenneth. In
1999 she moved back to California to spend the rest of her
days with her daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine and Tom
Dunbar of Fairfield.
Pauline was a book lover and avid gardener, especially
enjoyed roses and violets, and throughout her retirement
years, lavished her grandkids with her hand-made doll
quilts, felt sets and wise and whimsical quotes collected
over the years from numerous sources.
She loved being with family and had many friends in St.
Helena. Pauline is survived by her four children: Kenneth P.
Grenz of Acampo, June Ferguson of Angwin, Bob Grenz of
Farmington, Wash. and Geraldine Dunbar of Fairfield; 12
grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and six
great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial grave side services were held at St. Helena
Cemetery on Wednesday, March 8 at 2 p.m. Arrangements were
under the direction of Morrison Funeral Chapel of Napa
Valley
