                  						Christine (Kost) Grenz Obituary

                  Sister Christine Grenz, nee Kost, saw the 
                  light of day 
                  on the 9 December 1864 in Worms, South Russia, and 
                  died in Eureka, South Dakota on 08 May 1949 at the 
                  lofty age of 84 years, 4 months and 29 days.  Her 
                  sudden death was caused by a stroke.  She was 
                  converted in 1890 and baptized by Pastor Benske and 
                  received into the congregation in Eureka.  Later she 
                  joined the congregation in Herreid and remained a 
                  faithful member until her death.  On 7 Oct 1886 she 
                  married Gottlieb Grenz who preceded her in death on 13 
                  March 1902.  This was a happy marriage, blessed with 
                  seven children of which a son Jacob by name, also 
                  predeceased her in 1910. 
                   
                  The names and addresses of her surviving children are: 
                   Mrs. Pauline Fuchs, Plevna, Montana;  Christian 
                  Grenz, Artas,  S. Dakota; Gottlieb Grenz, Napoleon, N. 
                   Dakota; Emil Grenz, Eureka, S. Daklota; Adam Grenz, 
                  Zillah, Washington; and Berthold Grenz, Ellendale, 
                  North Dakota.  In 1885 she came to Scotland, South 
                  Dakota from Russia.  In the same year she moved to a 
                  farm at Artas, S. Daota where she lived until 1919, 
                  after which she moved into the little town of Artas, 
                  where she lived in reetirement until her death. 
                   
                  Besides her aforementioned children, she leaves behind 
                  a half-sister, two brothers and a half--brother, also 
                  four grandchildren, forty great grandchildren and one 
                  great, great grandchild (?), also m any relatives and 
                  friends all of whom mourn her departure.  God Comfort 
                  you all! 
                   
                  The undersigned officiated at the funeral along with 
                  Pastor Krombein from Eureka who gave a message of 
                  comfort.  The extremely large gathering showed the 
                  great respect for the deceased sister.
