Elroy Lang
86, Jamestown, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at Jamestown
Hospital, James-town.
Mr. Lang was born Dec. 18, 1923, on the family farm south of
Cleveland, N.D., the son of Fred Lang and Emma (Haas) Lang.
He attended the local rural school. He attended Sheyenne
River Academy, Harvey, N.D. He graduated in 1944. He
attended Walla Walla College, Washington, and received his
Bachelor of Science in mathematics. He received a master's
degree at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley,
Colo. He married Maxine Kom on June 18, 1950, at Willamina,
Ore. They lived in Sutton, N.D. He taught high school math
in various towns around North Dakota. They retired in
Jamestown in 1985. She died in April 2010. He was a member
of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Jamestown. He enjoyed
coin collecting, gardening and the outdoors.
He is survived by a sister-in law, Olga (Floyd) Lang-Rodin,
Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, twin brother,
Marvin, and a younger brother, Clarence.

Maxine Lang
85, Jamestown, died Tuesday, April 13,
2010, at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.
Maxine Kom was born May 15, 1924, on the family farm, at
Bentley, N.D., the daughter of Paul and Pauline (Magstadt)
Kom. In 1936 the family moved to Oregon. She received her
elementary education at Gilbert Creek Church School and
graduated in 1942 from Laurelwood Academy, Gaston, Ore. She
attended Walla Walla College, College Place, Wash., from
1942 to 1945 and graduated from Portland Oregon Adventist
Hospital, Portland, Ore., in 1945 with a degree in nursing.
She worked as a registered nurse in Portland. She married
Elroy Lang on June 18, 1950, at Willamina, Ore. They moved
to the Gackle, N.D., area where she worked at the Gackle
Hospital as a nursing supervisor from 1953 to 1957. She then
worked at the LaMoure Health Center, LaMoure, N.D., as a
nursing supervisor until 1967. She worked at Harvey
Hospital, Harvey, N.D., as a registered nurse from 1968 to
1974. In 1975 to 1986 she worked for Jamestown Hospital,
Jamestown, as a registered nurse until she retired. She was
a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Jamestown. She
was active in the church where she was a part of the
community service department and taught Sabbath school for
many years. She enjoyed flowers, walking, cooking,
traveling, reading the Bible and sharing Scripture.
She is survived by her husband and a sister, Lucille
(Robert) Johnstone, Willamina, Ore.
Services: 1 p.m. Friday, Seventh-day Adventist Church,
Jamestown, with Pastor Darren Purdy officiating.
