GRENZ FAMILY TREE

Ina Grenz   -   Obituary

Ina Grenz was born in Randolph County, Arkansas on May 19, 1938 to Oran and Marie Holland. After her early education in Arkansas/Missouri, the family heard of work in agriculture here in the Valley. So the family, with friends, traveled to Washington State to work in the fields from cutting asparagus to picking fruit. They did this during 1951 and 1952 and in 1953 made the Valley a permanent home, settling in Zillah.

Ina started school as a 9th grader in Zillah. Her and Larry dated in high school and both graduated in 1957 from Zillah, Larry as president and Ina as vice-president of the class. They were married Nov. 27, 1959 and celebrated 50 years together last year. In 1961, Greg came along and in 1963 Doug followed. They moved to their current home in 1966. Ina worked at the bank in Toppenish until both boys were in school and then quit the bank to work at the school as a teacher's aide. After some years passed she moved up to secretary at the grade school. All told she was at the school for 31 years before retiring. She loved working for the school. After retiring her and Larry traveled to Alaska, Missouri, Tennessee, and Arkansas to visit family and friends. She also went crabbing and fishing on the coast and floating the Klickitat. She seemed to be able to do it all. She was the rock of the family and will be terribly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, O.E. and Marie Holland; brothers, Marshall and Delmar Holland; sister, Alma Overstreet; brother-in-law, Jack Overstreet; and grandson, Blaine Grenz.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Grenz; sons, Greg (Janine) Grenz and Doug (fiancee Kathy) Grenz all of Zillah; brother and sisters, W.C. (Charlene) Holland of Zillah, Vi (Ken) Kohagen of Yakima, and Carolyn (Craig) Lowery of Tampico; grandchildren, Steven (Eunju) Wingrove of Osan, South Korea, Cody Grenz of Yakima, Nathan Schilperoort of Yakima, Jordan Schilperoort of Yakima, Shelby Grenz, Lexie Wright, McKenzie Grenz, Ryan Grenz, Madison Grenz all of Zillah; great grandchild, Emma Wingrove of Osan, South Korea; and many nieces, nephews, cousins as well as other family members and close friends.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to North Star or any local hospice.
