Lester David Kauk, former Leedey,
Oklahoma resident, died January 29, 2009 at his home in
Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the age of 82. L.D. was born
October 25, 1926 to Chris and Lena (Tost) Kauk at Butler,
Oklahoma.
He attended Leedey High School graduating with the Class of
1945. In 1950 L.D. joined the United States Army serving in
the 838th Army Engineers Corp. He achieved the rank of
Corporal and was honorably discharged in 1956.
L.D. was united in marriage to Miss Noreta Ann Burns on
September 1, 1951 in Orlando, Florida. L.D. and Ann were the
proud parents of four children; Charla, Cheryl, John and
Paul. L.D.'s work with Shell Oil Company took the family to
Denver, Texas, MccCarnrey, Texas, Jal, New Mexico and
finally to Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
L.D. was employed by Sherll Oil Company as a Production
Supervisor for forty years and retired with them in 1986.
L.D. attended the Stevendale Baptist Church in Baton Rouge,
where he was a faithful member.
His special interests were golfing, reading a good book, and
traveling to see family, or have family visit them. L.D. was
an avid golfer and at the age of 79 he shot a 79 on the
course. He also accomplished the rare feat of a
"hole-in-one" during his 70's.
Loved ones precedding L.D. in death and his parents, Chris
and Lena Kauk, sister, Vera Riedl; brothers, Albert, Eemil,
Barney and Lee Kauk.
Family members remaining to cherich his memory are his
beloved wife of 57 years, Ann, who he called his "Angel #1";
daughters, Charla Kauk and Cheryl Gilmore and husband Jeff;
sons, John Kauk and wife Nancy and Paul Kauk; sisters, Ruth
Robertson, Bernice Carter, and Doris Rhoades; brother,
Delbert Kauk and wife Fern; grandchilddren,
Adrienne Hobgood, Liz Heefner and husband Dan, Rosie Hansen
and husband Eric, Jeffrey Paul Gilmore and wife Dana,
Julianna Zobrist and husband Ben, Jonathaa Gilmore and wife
Jessie, Caroline Gilmore, Christoper Kauk, Michael Kauk,
Amanda Kauk, and Moriyah Ramberg; great-grandchildren, Luke
(little L.D.) Heefner, David Heefner, Zachariah Heefner,
Titus Heefner, Nellie Hansen, Eva Hansen, Greata Mae Hansen,
Logan Blanche Gilmore, Zion Benjamin Zobrist; by several
nieces and nephews, and his many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 23, 2009 in the
First Baptist Church, Leedey, Oklahomas with burial
following in the German Reform Cemetery. Services arranged
by Shaw Funeral Home, Leedey, Oklahoma.

Noreta Ann Kauk was born January 20, 1932 in
Buckeye Lake, Ohio to Francis Duval (Dude) and Annie
Elizabeth Seaman Burns. She passed from this life May 20,
2011 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the age of 79.
Ann grew up in Buckeye Lake, Ohio; Kissimmee, Florida and
Orlando, Florida. She attended and graduated from St. Cloud
High School in St. Cloud, Florida.
Ann was united in marriage to Lester David Kauk on September
1, 1951 in Orlando, Florida. Four children were born to this
union, Charla Elizabeth, Cheryl Ann, John David and Paul
Christian. Over the years, Ann and her family lived in many
places including, Denver City, Texas; McCamey, Texas; Jal,
New Mexico; Kenner, Louisiana and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Ann worked throughout her life as a wife and mother, taking
care of her family. Her greatest enjoyment was the time she
spent with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed
sewing and cooking. Ann was baptized at the First Baptist
Church in Denver City, Texas when she was 25. She was a
member of and attended the Florida Boulevard Baptist Church
in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 58
years, L.D. Kauk, parents, Francis and Annie Burns, sister,
Charla Irene Grant and brother, John D. Burns. Those left to
cherish her memory are daughters Charla Kauk Hobgood of
Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Cheryl Kauk Gilmore and husbamd
Jeff of Iowa City, Iowa; sons, John David Kauk and wife
Nancy of Topeka, Kansas and Paul Christian Kauk of Baton
Rouge, Louisiana; grandchildren, Christophner David Kauk,
Michael Raine Kauk, Amanda Nicole Kauk, Moriyah Ramberg,
Adrienne Elizabeth Hobgood, Elizabeth Heefner and husband
Dan, Rosie Hansen and husband Eric, Jeffrey Paul Gilmore and
wife Dana, Julianna Zobrist and husband Ben, Jonathan
Gilmore and wife Jessie and Caroline Kay Gilmore; 11 great
grandchildren; sister, Loretta Burns Fisher, other family
and many dear friends.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the
First Baptist Church, Leedey, Oklahoma with burial following
in the German Reform Cemetery, Custer County, Oklahoma.
