Obituary

Lorraine Grenz, 92, Bismarck, died Sept. 24, 2013, at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Services will be held at 10:30a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at Bismarck Baptist Church with Rev. the Merle Hoots officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. for family and friends. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lorraine was born May 10, 1921, to John and Margaret (Wessner) Grueneich. She attended country school and graduated from Washburn High School. With strong determination, she ventured to Seattle, Wash., and went to work for Boeing Aircraft. In 1944, she married Al Engelson, and they had two children, Donna and David. After Al’s death, Lorraine moved to Bismarck, where she married John Grenz, and they had one daughter, Loa.

Lorraine loved serving her church family using her gifts of organization and hospitality. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, baking, was an accomplished seamstress and volunteered at Medcenter One hospital. Her greatest joy was traveling to see her family. She was loved by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will miss her dearly.

Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Donna (Dan) Will, Zumbrota, Minn., and Loa (Greg) Cornelsen, Calgary, Alberta, Canada; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Richardson Grenz, Plymouth, Minn.; her grandchildren, Matt Will, Duluth, Minn., Sara (Brent) Faehn, Shoreview, Minn., Becca (Sam) Cheng, Chicago, Jason Ohlhauser, Calgary, Alberta, and Megan (Matt) Wolbaum, Calgary, Alberta; her great-grandchildren, Sydney Will, Grand Forks, Leah Cheng, Chicago, Jeremy Ohlhauser, Calgary, Alberta, Luke, Andrew and Will Faehn, Shoreview, and Bria Wolbaum, Calgary, Alberta; her sister, Viona (Reuben) Schlickenmeyer, Bismarck; special sisters-in-law, Violet Grenz, Bismarck, and Frances Grueneich, Bismarck; and special brother-in-law, Walt Aman, Portland, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her son, David; her husbands, Al and John; her parents; five sisters, Johanna Bader, Emma Johnson, Bertha Steinwand, Martha Koenig and Ella Aman; and three brothers, Edward, Bennie and John Grueneich.  Memorials may be given to Bismarck Baptist Church.
