Columbia - Marion Jasmer,
79, of Columbia, S.D. died May 30, 2003 at Avera St. Luke's
Hospital, Aberdeen. Her funeral will be 3:00 p.m., Monday,
June 2nd at St. John's Lutheran Church, Columbia with Rev.
Jais Tinglund and Rev. Terry Naasz officiating. Burial will
follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m.,
today, with a public prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Miller-Huebl
Funeral Home, 1111 South Main St., Aberdeen. Visitation
continues from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, Monday, at the
funeral home and one hour before the service at the church.
Marion Elizabeth Buntrock was born April 3, 1924 at
Columbia, S.D. to Otto and Elizabeth (Krege) Buntrock. She
attended school at Columbia and graduated from Columbia High
School in 1941. She then attended Northern State Teacher's
College (NSU) and graduated in 1942. She taught country
school near Columbia.
Marion married Allen "Bud" Jasmer at Columbia on June 6,
1946. They lived in Columbia, where she did bookkeeping for
her husband's business. She then began working at Kessler's
in Aberdeen and continued her employment with them for
several years until she retired. After her retirement, she
worked part-time at the Columbia Cafˇ. She was baptized and
confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John's Lutheran
Church in Columbia, where she was a lifetime member, taught
Sunday school for many years and was a member of L.W.M.L.
Marion was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary,
Senior Citizens Center, Ladies Whist Card Club, Extension
Club and served as City Clerk for Columbia for many years.
She enjoyed her family and playing cards. She loved to watch
baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves. She also enjoyed
family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Arlyce E. De Hoet and Nancy
(Larry) Vietmeier, both of Columbia; five grandchildren, Pam
(Brad) Hanson, Nina (Ross) Hanna, Vicki (Jamie) Rossow,
Penni (Lee) Hanna and Tyson (Lindsey) De Hoet; eight
great-grandchildren, Justin, Samantha, Sadie, Sydney,
Parker, Taryn, Dacotah and Brodyn; two step-grandchildren,
Amy (Jeremy) Krueger and Allan (Stacy) Vietmeier and three
step great-grandchildren, Logan, Landen and Kaitlynn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one
son-in-law. Casket bearers will be Brad Hanson, Ross Hanna,
Jamie Rossow, Lee Hanna, Tyson De Hoet, Allan Vietmeier,
Justin Hanson and Jerry Jasmer. Honorary casket bearers will
be all of Marion's grandchildren, great-grandchildren and
her many friends.
