Marleta Sue Briggs

A memorial service for Marleta Sue Briggs will be held Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Matthews officiating.

Marleta Sue Briggs was born June 22, 1941 in Gravette, Arkansas to Ernest Elmer Ommen and Minnie H.
 (Stigler) Ommen. She passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2009 in Oklahoma City at the age of 68.
Mrs. Briggs worked many years at the Okemah Blue Bell Wrangler Plant in Okemah. She also retired from the OU Health Center after 15 years of employment. She and Jerry Briggs were married February 24, 1956 in Perry, Oklahoma. Mrs. Briggs was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her father Elmer Ommen; and one son, Scott Briggs.

Survivors include her husband Jerry Briggs of Okemah; two son, Steve Briggs and wife Cindy of Okemah; and Jim Briggs and wife Jackie of Tuttle, Oklahoma; one daughter, Sherry Wintz and husband Bill of Moore; 6 grandchildren, Joe, Jordan and Jill Briggs, Kelly Jo and Jake Briggs; and Kylee Briggs.

will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah.

Jerry Joe Briggs was born April 1, 1938 in Taloga, Oklahoma to George Briggs and Vera (Rinker) Briggs. He passed away Thursday, November 5, 2015 at his home in Okemah at the age of 77.
Mr. Briggs worked most of his life as a foreman for road construction.

He and Marleta Sue Ommen were married February 24, 1956 in Perry, Oklahoma; she preceded him in death September 23, 2009. Mr. Briggs enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and attended the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Scott and two brothers, Robert and Donald.
Survivors include his two sons; one daughter of Okemah; two brothers, Oklahoma; one sister Oklahoma City; six grandchildren; his aunt, and his mother in law of Okemah.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
