Obituary for Minnie H. Ommen
Funeral services for Minnie H. Ommen will be held Thursday,
December 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral
Home Chapel in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Highland
Cemetery in Okemah.
Minnie H. Ommen was born January 30, 1918 in Missouri to
Charles and Myrtle (Thornton) Steiger. She passed away,
Sunday, December 17, 2017 in Okemah at the age of 99.
Mrs. Ommen was a longtime resident of the Okemah area,
having moved from Leedey, Oklahoma in 1963. She and Ernest
Elmer Ommen were married August 3, 1936 in Antioch,
Oklahoma; he later preceded her in death April 4, 1990. Mrs.
Ommen operated a greenhouse and nursery for more than 20
years and was a loyal member of the St. Paul’s United
Methodist Church of Okemah. She also enjoyed traveling.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one sister,
Doris Kauk; one grandson, Scott and one granddaughter,
Sherry.
Survivors include her two grandsons, Steve and Cindy Briggs
of Okemah and Jim and Jackie Briggs of Tuttle, Oklahoma and
6 great-grandchildren, Joe, Jordan, Jill, Kelly, Jake and
Kylie.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Jake Briggs, Joe
Briggs, Randy Rumley, Steve Briggs and Jim Briggs.
