A Lesson In Honesty
Now I am not a big believer in Karma, but I do believe
strongly in good will. The first expects a return
whether positive or negative from an original action.
The second just "is". Good will should not be
rationalized, it should exist just as it is as part of our
character. This was all brought to mind by an incident
that happened at a gas station in Canada somewhere west of
Montreal.
I was carrying all my traveling money in my wallet, about
$700.00 and as I sat, fanny in first, this wallet hit the
pavement, exiting through a substantially warn rear
pocket . I did not go far, however, for as part of my
ritual each day I tightened those items on Moggy that
loosened, which was about everything. Adopting my bent
over position it wasn't long before the car and this posture
attracted some attention. Living in the house across the
street was a Botanist and his wife and she invited me in for
some tea.
Traveling alone with only Mog as my companion, little coaxing
was needed to wile away the afternoon with someone of flesh
and blood. Not realizing my loss, I was surprised to see
the service station attendant through the window leaping the
stairs for the door.
Upon my leaving the station he had found the wallet, jumped in
his pickup and spent an hour trying to catch us down the road.
It wasn't until his return that he spotted the Mog and shared
his good will with me.
