Sunday

Today was a day of rest, however, only partly by choice or lack of motivation, and partly because of the heavy snowfall.  Since I'll be traversing a rather steep slope, heading for the lake, I would like the snow to settle a little and bond with the old pack,  just to be on the cautious side.  There is much to go back to and no need to end it out here.  So today I read and watch it snow.

I have been on the ridge tope longer than anticipated and my camp is becoming quite uncomfortable.  I have tried to even the floor out a little by hammering the snow with my knees to it's lowest level where by butt is when I sleep.  It is beginning to feel like sleeping in a hammock made out of rock.  I really must move.

The altimeter although gaining 300ft during the day due to the system moving in, has lowered slightly.  Perhaps a high system is arriving to give me some relief and allow me to move to the bench by the lake.  We shall see.

The trees glistened in their white frocks today.  I suppose I should have put on my skis and toured.
