Violet Grenz - Obituary

 

Violet Sophia Grenz Wood age 84 of Wittenberg, formerly of Shawano, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She had previously been a resident of Homme Home in Wittenberg. 

Violet was born on January 17, 1928 in the Township of Grant, Shawano County, the daughter of the late Richard and Adela (Suehring) Grenz. As a child, her family moved to the Township of Fairbanks, Shawano County. She graduated from Tigerton High School in 1946, and then attended Langlade County Normal School, Antigo for two years. Violet continued her education at UW-Milwaukee for five years. After graduation, she taught school in Milwaukee for twenty-four years until her retirement when she returned to live in Tigerton. In 1989 she moved to Clintonville and then to Shawano. Her hobbies included traveling, which enabled her to visit nearly every state of the United States. 

Survivors include: 

Her brother: Gordon (Linda) Grenz, Tigerton 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Norman, Orlen & Rueben and 2 sisters, Ruth (Harold) Satre & Lillian Bowen. 

Memorial services will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mattoon with the Rev. Dean Bertsch officiating. Inurnment will be in the Union Cemetery, Tigerton immediately following the service. 

Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service.
