Irene Will Obituary


Irene Will, 93, Linton, ND, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND surrounded by her family.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the United Methodist Church, Linton, ND with Rev. Marlin Sapp officiating. Burial will be at the Linton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before time of service on Thursday at the church.

Irene was born to Fred and Rosina (Schuler) Heberle, March 4, 1922, on a farm east of Mound City, SD. They moved to ND in 1939, to a farm about five miles north of Linton. Irene attended school west of Temvik through the fifth grade, where she met her future husband, Oscar Will. Being the eldest of five children, she helped out the ladies in the neighborhood to earn money in the 1930's. She also helped her father on the family farm.

Irene married Oscar Will on October 26, 1941, and lived west of Hazelton until 1953. Oscar and Irene bought the Heberle family farm from her father in the fall of 1953, and moved in November of that year. They lived there until 1978, when they moved into Linton after selling the farm to their daughter, Debra and Terry Hochhalter.

Irene was a member of the United Methodist church and was involved with the Methodist Women's group. For many years she served on the kitchen committee, sang in the church choir, and was a member of the Naomi Circle, and chairperson of the funeral committee for 25 years.

Irene was a great cook and loved to cook for others. Her home was always open to family and friends. She was a member of the Senior Citizens of Linton and the Red Hats group. Irene loved to sew, crochet and knit special things for her new grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to read her Bible, devotion books and visit with her many friends. Irene was admitted to the Strasburg Care Center in June, 2011, for special care with minor health problems.

Those left to cherish Irene's memory include Irene and Oscar's five children; Lawrence and Sharon Will of Mandan, ND, Carol and Joe Nafziger of Wauseon, OH, Oscar Jr. and Susan Will, Lubbock, TX, Jerry and Janee Will of Wichita, KS, and Debra and Terry Hochhalter of Linton, ND; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Emma Streyle, Fargo, ND, and many nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband Oscar of 54 years, one infant, Kenneth, her parents, Fred and Rosina Heberle, two brothers, Edwin and Edward Heberle, one sister, Frieda Pagel, and one great grandchild.

The Irene Will family wishes to say an extra thank you to the Strasburg Care Center for their excellent care to Irene and for the many prayers said throughout her stay at the Care Center.
