Irene was born to Fred and Rosina (Schuler) Heberle, March
4, 1922, on a farm east of Mound City, SD. They moved to
ND in 1939, to a farm about five miles north of Linton.
Irene attended school west of Temvik through the fifth
grade, where she met her future husband, Oscar Will. Being
the eldest of five children, she helped out the ladies in
the neighborhood to earn money in the 1930's. She also
helped her father on the family farm.
Irene married Oscar Will on October 26, 1941, and lived
west of Hazelton until 1953. Oscar and Irene bought the
Heberle family farm from her father in the fall of 1953,
and moved in November of that year. They lived there until
1978, when they moved into Linton after selling the farm
to their daughter, Debra and Terry Hochhalter.
Irene was a member of the United Methodist church and was
involved with the Methodist Women's group. For many years
she served on the kitchen committee, sang in the church
choir, and was a member of the Naomi Circle, and
chairperson of the funeral committee for 25 years.
Irene was a great cook and loved to cook for others. Her
home was always open to family and friends. She was a
member of the Senior Citizens of Linton and the Red Hats
group. Irene loved to sew, crochet and knit special things
for her new grandchildren and great grandchildren. She
loved to read her Bible, devotion books and visit with her
many friends. Irene was admitted to the Strasburg Care
Center in June, 2011, for special care with minor health
problems.
Those left to cherish Irene's memory include Irene and
Oscar's five children; Lawrence and Sharon Will of Mandan,
ND, Carol and Joe Nafziger of Wauseon, OH, Oscar Jr. and
